Ornithological excursion to the Eastern Slovakia
“Senianske rybníky” ponds – May 15th – 19th, 2013
A group of passionate ornithologists from Austria visited the „Senianske rybníky“ ponds – one of the most important bird areas in the Central Europe and the most important bird breeding site in Slovakia. In this „birding paradise“ covering an area of almost 1500 ha they were able to see 110 from 145 registered bird species in 3 days. The Lesser Spotted Eagle and the singing Red-breasted Flycatcher made the biggest impression on the guests.

The pan-European Green-Belt Meeting
Bratislava/Stupava – November 18th – 21st, 2007
More than 70 participants from 22 countries discussed the possibilities of nature protection and sustainable development in the area of the European Green Belt.
After the WWII Europe was divided into two parts by the so called Iron Curtain reaching from the Barents Sea in the north to the Black Sea in the south. Nobody had been allowed to enter this border territory for several decades. Thanks to this fact, nature, biotops, flora and fauna stayed conserved in this area, while it was destroyed in other places. Today, we call this territory The Green Belt. The Green Belt is one of the essential parts of European natural heritage, a living monument of European history and nature.
This conference was organised in cooperation with BROZ (Regional Association for Nature Conservation and Sustainable Development) as a local partner of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).
