Ecotourism

The philosophy of NATRIX is: “To look under the skin of a country without hurting it”

While organizing our journeys we respect criteria for sustainable tourism and ecotourism:

  • we keep our groups small (up to 20 people)
  • we offer accommodation in small, mostly family facilities with local atmosphere
  • if possible, we use public transport, train, ship, bicycle or we go on foot
  • we visit places where you can meet local people instead of being lost in a big town anonymity or crowds of tourists
  • our progammes consider healthy life-style principles – plenty of physical activity, activities which enable you to unwind and forget about everyday problems and worries and help you to relax, seasonal meals made of local ingredients…
  • for us it is not enough to show only top attractions of Slovakia, we enable our clients to get “under the skin“ of the country visited – to learn more about the life of its people in the past and the present through local guides, local language, traditional meals and products…
  • our interest is not to damage the country we visit – we leave minimum waste, do not invade our surroundings by being too noisy and we contribute towards saving natural resources
  • we take care that a major part of income from tourism remains in the region visited and contributes to an income increase for local people
  • our priority is experience not consumption without limits

Sustainable Tourism leads to management of all resources in such a way that economic, social and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity and life support systems (World Tourism Organization).

Ecotourism means responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people (TIES – The International Ecotourism Society)
Ecotourism is a part of sustainable tourism. In comparison to ecotourism, sustainable tourism can also be realised outside natural areas.
